Programs

Georgia United Foundation supports programs that improve the quality of life for children and families, support schools and advance financial literacy.

School Crashers

School Crashers is our school makeover program that unites communities, media partners, donors and volunteers to complete improvement projects for deserving schools.

Junior Achievement

One of our largest financial education initiatives is our partnership with Junior Achievement (JA) of Georgia to educate middle school students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.

Scholarships

To assist students in continuing their education, Georgia United Foundation funds several local scholarship opportunities including our annual Scholarship Competition for graduating high school seniors.

Can Hunger

Our annual canned food and donation drive benefits food banks in our communities and helps feed neighbors in need. Can Hunger not only provides healthy meals, it also raises awareness about hunger in our communities.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) has been an annual partnership with the University of Georgia’s College of Family & Consumer Sciences, Dalton State College and the IRS to provide free income tax preparation and filing for consumers of moderate income. In 2023, appointments will no longer be offered at Georgia United branches but will move to on-campus sites and be available online.

Wish Tree

Our annual Wish Tree program provides new toys and clothing for children in need through local Division of Family & Children Services and similar organizations during November and December.

Children’s Miracle Network

Children’s Miracle Network is the nonprofit organization that helps fundraise for children’s hospitals across the country - like Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, right here in Georgia. Join us in becoming an active supporter and fundraiser.

What a wonderful gift from a local community partner. Your commitment to improving the quality of life for children and families in the communities that we live is evident through your donation. The $1,000 from Georgia United Foundation will be used to support one foster youth for a year.
- Susie W., Children First, Inc.
The Southeastern Credit Union Foundation values the partnership of Georgia United Credit Union. Your support plays a vital role in our efforts to promote financial education initiatives, offer scholarships and grants to assist credit union employees with the training they need to achieve professional excellence, provide financial relief for credit union staff and volunteers when disaster strikes, and support credit unions in achieving their own community development objectives. Words alone can’t express how appreciative we are!
- Bobbi G., Foundation Director, League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates
The Georgia United Foundation takes great pride in being active in our local communities and believes that giving back is not only the right way — but the only way.
- Debbie Smith, President & CEO, Georgia United Credit Union
Because of the funding provided by the Georgia United Credit Union Foundation, combined with additional grant money from another donor, we will now be able to add security systems to our Gordon and Murray County Club locations. We appreciate your partnership and generosity!
- Hannah R., Director of Grants & Foundations, Boys & Girls Club
Thank you so much for supporting our mission to help the homeless and families. We truly appreciate you.
- Roz G., Executive Director, Lift Up Atlanta, Inc.
I'm so appreciative of the "mission in action" behind the staff at Georgia United Credit Union. The staff at Georgia United are a living embodiment of giving back to the community and for that, the Y is truly grateful. Your gift of dollars and time has a big impact for many in our community's mind, body, and spirit.
- Joseph A., J.M. Tull Gwinnett Family YMCA
We are so elated and forever grateful! We appreciate what you do!

Thank you so much for this grant. It will really go a long way to help us provide meals to the children in our community.
- Jill E., Hearts Against Hunger
We rely on support from community partners like Georgia United Credit Union. With their funding, we will serve so many families during these trying times. Filling basic needs, like diapers, for families makes such a difference. Collaborations and partners are what help make our communities stronger.
